Headaches

Headaches can come in many different types. Some people are luckily enough to rarely suffer from them and others can find that they impact their daily life. If you are a sufferer it’s important to understand why you get them and the different kinds of headaches so you know how to treat them.

Here at Mount Osteopaths we are specially trained to help decipher what type could be the cause of the ongoing head pain, whether it’s from eye strain or a postural strain coming from the jaw or neck, or even from an injury like whiplash. We also rule out migraines or cluster headaches which often need further medical investigation from your doctor. Allergies and sinus congestion also can play a part in causing headaches so during a, consultation you’ll find we will ask you questions to determine what is the most likely cause of your headaches.

What we do to help:

As osteopaths we like to look at the bigger picture. We can assess your posture and advise on the ergonomics of your home or workplace and offer exercise and stretching to help prevent a recurrence of symptoms. With treatment we can lessen the postural strain or loading on your head and neck by reducing the muscular tension, nerve compression and inflammation. We look globally at improving the function of your neck, ribs, mid back to aid your general mobility and health.
